As a master’s student in the UK, I have experienced a significant difference in the approach to learning compared to India. A strong emphasis is placed on research, evidence-based practice, and clinical reasoning. Although I had already been working in the field of physiotherapy, the MSc Sports Rehabilitation course has transformed the way I think as a clinician, encouraging me to support every decision with solid clinical evidence. Engaging with research papers and being exposed to different aspects of analytical studies has played a vital role in shaping my thought process. It has not only deepened my understanding but also helped me become more analytical and confident in my clinical decisions.
Supportive staff
The people and facilities at 色聚 deserve special mention. The Careers Team, in particular, has been incredibly supportive in helping me understand what employers look for and how to present myself professionally. I am especially grateful to Mr Clemente Ruidiaz, whose guidance in reviewing my CV, refining my cover letter, and preparing for interviews has had a lasting impact on my professional development.
Professional sports placement opportunities
One of my primary reasons for choosing to study in London was the opportunity to gain exposure to sports and work with professional athletes. Securing a placement with the Saracens Women’s Rugby team has truly fulfilled that goal and made the entire journey worthwhile.
Working with Saracens Women's Rugby
Being part of Saracens has been an honour. From observing different treatment techniques to understanding how similar injuries can be approached in multiple ways, the experience has significantly broadened my perspective. I have had the opportunity to work with rugby specific injuries and transition from observation to practising hands-on techniques, which has been both exciting and rewarding.
While my previous professional experience exposed me to treating the general population, working with professional athletes has allowed me to expand my skill set further. I have been able to apply a wide range of techniques, including spinal and peripheral mobilisation, various taping methods, and the use of tools such as the Graston blade and mobilisation belts. This level of exposure has been invaluable and is something that will strongly enhance my professional profile.
Match day experience
A standout moment during my placement was the opportunity to be part of the medical team on match day. It was an unforgettable experience. Preparing for emergency scenarios such as concussions, head injuries, and severe limb injuries was entirely new to me. Being on the sidelines during a live rugby match, constantly alert and ready to respond, was both thrilling and intense. The excitement of the game, combined with the responsibility of player care, made it a truly surreal experience. In those moments, I realised that every challenge of being away from home was contributing to something meaningful.
These experiences, combined with the knowledge gained through my modules, have strengthened my confidence, enhanced my clinical skills, and prepared me to enter the professional world with a strong sense of readiness and purpose.
